Beyond The Bounds is an initiative towards mental health awareness. Statistics by WHO in 2017 stated that 1 in 4 teens in India is facing depression.
In India, the National Mental Health Survey 2015-16 reveals that nearly 15% Indian adults need active intervention for one or more mental health issues and one in 20 Indians suffers from depression.
It is estimated that in 2012, India had over 258,000 suicides, with the age-group of 15-49 years being most affected.
It is a drive to break the silence on depression and to make the people and youth of the country aware about it.
It is a Mumbai based project. We travel to places visiting schools and colleges by conducting seminars and workshops on depression, anxiety , stress, importance of mental health etc. , causes, symptoms and how we can contribute as a responsible citizen.
We also provide mental health curriculum especially in schools and colleges where there is no proper access to Mental Health.
We are currently running school program in Mumbai where we introduce mental health curriculum for students. We have conducted mindset training and provided a platform to college students in Mumbai where they can speak up about the stress they go through and provided as much help as possible.
According to WHO survey conducted in India in 2018, India is home to an estimated 56 million suffering mental health disorders out of which 80% are women and school children in rural population due poverty, mal-nourishment, lack of education etc. which does not make them aware about the problems, treatments, facilities and resources that are available, how to seek help etc. Hence, we came up with 3 camps in each village of Rural India. So here, are the activities for Rural programme:
CAMP 1: Campaign name – Main Saksham hoon (self-reliant programme for women as poverty is one of the causes of mental health problems in women of rural India) for women 15 to 30 years.
CAMP 2: Campaign name- Meri awaaz, Mental health for All
CAMP 3: Campaign name- Maa ka Dulaar,
For children. This will also include the education about mal-nourishment which is the major of mental health problems in rural India.
These activities are funded by Global Changemakers.
Recognizing the enormity of the challenges our society faces, 'Beyond The Bounds' is dedicated to making a lasting impact through our campaigns and programs. While our efforts are driven by our organization’s singular focus, we spread a wide net by investing in a variety of progressive strategies. Hence, we have extended to Kenya in Kakuma city and in Sudan.
